Anne de Leon has changed my life a great deal, for the better. I was terrified to even consider retirement because I was afraid I couldn't afford it. The thought of even trying to determine what income I could expect was overwhelming. After attending one of Annie's free seminars I was comfortable enough to meet with her one-on-one. In that first meeting she quickly helped me sign up for Medicare Part A (that I had already been eligible to receive at no additional cost to me). She gave me an overview of what information to gather to be ready to initiate the retirement process. In subsequent visits she distilled the information that was confusing to me, explained how to maximize what I had and gave me a clear picture of what to expect. Through Annie I discovered I was better prepared to retire than I had previously thought. She did a great deal of the leg work involved--all at no cost to me. Although she explained she would be paid by the vendors when I selected insurance, I felt I was exploiting her. She assured me I wasn't, and that she was "just doing her job". In actual fact she did way more than could be expected of any financial representative. She made calls and advocated for me, prepared previews of what to expect in retirement and even came in on days she had planned to take off to help me.
I am financially better off for having worked with Annie de Leon than if I had just taken what was offered for monthly compensation from the pensions I had. I am so much more at peace than I would have been had I attempted to muddle through the choices I had to make without her. I will be forever grateful for her help. I recommend Anne de Leon at de Leon Retirement Services to anyone anticipating retirement--even if you're not sure you're ready. She will quickly put you at ease and make you glad you chose her to guide you through what can be a very confusing and financially perilous process.

Annie de Leon was very helpful and patient in helping me navigate the minefield of transitioning from employer based health insurance to Medicare and the supplemental insurance I will need once I turn 65. I had previously listened to her Medicare presentation at a library several months ago and she made the different Medicare parts clear and easy to understand. I was more than happy to use her services when the time came to enroll in Medicare.
She took the time to research and present all the options, and together we figured out the best plans for me.

Navigating the acquisition of Medicare coverage is a horribly confusing process for anybody. As the date approached for my husband and I to change from his employer coverage to Medicare, I was subjected to the barrage of advertising for the Advantage plans so prevalent in the market today. I had pretty much decided to go with an Advantage plan because of the fact that we were healthy and there was a zero premium when I happened on an advertisement in my Facebook feed for a seminar at a local establishment, offered by de Leon Retirement Services. The seminar was free with no obligations so I signed up.

The seminar was given by Annie de Leon and was a wealth of information given in clear to understand format. One of the points that Annie brought attention to is that the Advantage plans are not always an advantage depending on your circumstance. One of the circumstances up for consideration was whether or not you travel a lot, and whether you intended to travel out of the country specifically. My ears perked up because we live on our boat for part of each year and this very year had a trip planned into Canada.

At the completion of the seminar, I made an appointment to get together with Annie in her office to discuss our options. At the appointment, Annie gathered all of our information and it became immediately apparent that the Advantage plan would not be a good fit for us. We ended up going with the regular Medicare Part B and a plan G gap policy and plan D prescription plan. Yes, it costs more for the monthly premiums, but the coverage would be guaranteed in our traveling situation.

Six weeks later my husband had a cardiac arrest while we were traveling on the boat. He ended up in CCU for several days after a lengthy ambulance ride and a stint in the ER. If we had been on an Advantage plan we would be looking at something approaching financial ruin. Thanks to the sage advice given by Annie de Leon, we will be continuing our travels after his recovery period. I can't state enough how grateful I am for her honest and knowledgable approach to this most difficult transition in healthcare.
